Written by me years ago and wanted to share…
Where do you find the positive when you are primarily experience negative? When you are in the middle of crisis how can you look at the bright side?
Thinking back to a scared little girl on a plane who had just lost her mother, never knew her father, separated from her siblings and tossed into a Catholic orphanage where she was not treated very kindly – I remember the positive even in the darkest of places. A woman, a housekeeper in the orphanage, she used to sit me upon the counter while she cleaned and I would beg her to take me home so I could have a family again. Her gentle eyes would always well up with tears as she reassured me that someday I would have a family again that would love me, as I deserved to be loved. As she would clean I would sit on the counter and sing John Denver’s Country Road. John Denver wanted to go home to West Virginia where he belonged, I just wanted a place to call home. In an unkind universe, a beacon of light and hope came in the form of a cleaning woman, she was my positive.
If a four-year old little girl in a lonely, unkind orphanage can find hope – I encourage you to find something to cling to in your current situation, something that brings you hope, that takes you home.
thank u …I needed ur sense of hope today
This is beautiful. It always amazes me-the people that have been thru the most hell, often have the biggest & deepest hearts.
